Brenda Mohammed

Brenda Mohammed is a former Bank Manager from Trinidad and Tobago. Her writing career sparked in 2013 after her near-death experience with cancer and her recovery.[1]

I am Cancer Free won a Bronze Medal in the category Health and Fitness in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018.[2]

Career[edit]

After she wrote the book I am Cancer Free, which became a best-seller, it gave her the encouragement to continue writing.

As a former bank manager of Republic Bank Limited in Trinidad and Tobago,[3] the switch to a writing career was not difficult and she tried her hand in multi-genre.

In six years she wrote twenty-four books and published three anthologies. Some of her books won multiple awards.[4]

Besides awards for her books, she received several Global Literature awards.

She also fell in love with writing poetry and published two poetry books.

She has been interviewed on 7 November 2018 by Yvonne Webb of the Trinidad Newsday newspaper[5], the December 2018 issue of the Presbyterian News in Trinidad and Tobago, and Alem Hailu of the Sunday Edition of the Ethiopian Herald on 17 November 2019.[6] A couple of radio stations in America also held interviews with her.[7] Some of her poetry appeared in prestigious journals and anthologies in India and Kazakhstan[8] [9]

Her work in Literature for Suicide Prevention is recognized worldwide. She was the driving force in the production of the Anthology, A Spark of Hope: A Treasury of Poems for Saving Lives Volumes 1 and 2. The books topped the charts on Amazon and made Best Seller No. 1 within the space of a few days. Together with 87 co-authors, Brenda published a ground-breaking Anthology BREAK THE SILENCE, An Anthology Against Domestic Violence on March 5th, 2020. The book featured an article by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad, Right Reverend Joy Abdul-Mohan. The Anthology topped the charts of Amazon in a few days and became an Amazon bestseller No 1.[10]

After the success of her self-help book, How to Write for Success, she founded the Literary Forum How to Write for Success, with sub-groups - Poems for Suicide Prevention, How to Write for Success Library and Poems against Domestic Violence.[11]

World Nation Writers' Union[edit]

Member of the World Nations Writers' Union, Kazakhstan. In October 2018 she was appointed an Honorary Member of the World Higher Literary Academic Council of World Nations Writers'Union of Kazakhstan.[12] On 29 December 2018, she was awarded the World Laureate in Literature by World Nations Writers' Union. On 31 December 2018, she received a Certificate of Honour for serving as a juror in an International Poetry Contest sponsored by the World Nations Writers' Union. In August 2019 she received the World Poetic Star Award from World Nations Writers' Union.

Union Hispaniomundial De Escritores, Peru[edit]

In June 2019 she was appointed as National President of the Union of Writers, Union Hispaniomundial de Escritores for Trinidad and Tobago by Carlos Hugo Garrido Chalen.

On 22 February 2020, she was honoured with a World Award of excellence 2019-2020 by the Provincial Municipality of Urubamba, Republic Government of Peru. The certificate of honour was issued by Luis Alberto Valcarcel Villegas, Mayor of Urubamba. The world award of excellence 2019-2020 was conducted by the Government of Peru jointly with their Associates Motivational Strips, Worlds Most active writers’ online forum, World Nations Writers Union, Kazakhstan, and the Union Hispanomundial De Escritores, Peru. Mrs. Brenda Mohammed was one of the selected poets from Trinidad for this highly distinguished honour.[13]

Seychelles Government[edit]

On 31 August 2019, she was honored by the Seychelles Government Accredited Literary Society [ LLSF] for her contribution to World Poetry, creativity, and writing expertise.

IWGA 2020[edit]

On 8 December 2019 she was nominated for the prestigious iWoman Global Award 2020 in the field of Literature.[14]

Indie Authors Hall of Fame[edit]

On 15 January 2020, she was inducted into the Indie Authors Hall of Fame. As seen on NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox News.[15]

The book received a five-star review and five-star seal from Readers Favorite one month after publication. It also won the gold award in the category Non-Fiction in Connections EMagazine Readers' Choice awards 2019, and a silver medal for second place in all genres.[18] The book is her inspiration for founding the Facebook group, How to write for Success, with 5200 plus members. It is very popular amongst university students and new and aspiring authors who have written fantastic reviews about it. Alem Hailu of the Ethiopian Herald published a review about it on 16 February 2020.[21]
