The Major League Baseball postseason for the 1969 MLB season began on October 4, 1969. This was the first time the MLB included another playoff round besides the World Series, and would become a mainstay ever since. The postseason concluded with the New York Mets defeating the Baltimore Orioles in 5 games in the 1969 World Series, which is considered to be one of the greatest upsets in MLB history.

This was the first postseason meeting between these two teams. Baltimore made their first World Series appearance since 1966, when they swept the Los Angeles Dodgers. This was the first World Series appearance for the Mets.
