The teams placed 5th including the worst 4th placed teams in round 2 of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification will participate in playoffs. Winner of this tournament will participate in third round of 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualification.
Format[edit]
A total of 12 teams (the four lowest-ranked fourth-placed teams and the eight fifth-placed teams of the Asian Cup qualifying second round) will compete in the play-off round. A total of 12 teams are supposed to compete in a two legged tie.
Losers of this tournament are eligible to participate in 2020 AFC Solidarity Cup.
