From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

352 Inc., formerly known as 352 Media Group,[1] is a digital agency headquartered in Gainesville, Florida, USA, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia and Tampa, Florida. The company was started in 1997 by CEO, Geoff Wilson (American Entrepreneur), from his University of Florida dorm room. As an interactive media design group, the company develops websites, web applications, web marketing and social media marketing services, and motion graphics.

History[edit]

In 1997, Wilson created SpyderWeb Page Creation from his Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity house along with two other friends. Designing web sites for small businesses, the trio used their earnings to pay their way through school. Their humble beginnings allowed them to only charge a mere $79 per website design.

Two years later, Wilson had 30 clients and a need to concentrate on the business full-time. He hired current CMO, Peter VanRysdam, as the company’s first salesperson and the company was incorporated as Silverscape Technologies in 2000. In 2002, they changed their name to 352 Media Group and the company won its first Addy award in 2003. In July, 2013, the company changed their name to 352 and reincorporated as 352 Inc.

Located outside of Gainesville, Florida, the company is home to many graduates of the University of Florida and plays host to intern programs that employ the University’s students as well as others in the Gainesville area. The company has ties with the university as many of the employees have graduated from the institution (including Wilson and VanRysdam), and Wilson has been offered to give guest lectures[2] at the school and has been recognized by the Independent Florida Alligator[3] for its deep roots with the University.

Key Clients[edit]

In 2004, the company won its first job from Microsoft, creating an interactive DVD for Microsoft's Dev Days Conference. Microsoft then became the company's top client for several years.[4]

In 2011, the company was selected to redesign The Tampa Bay Times (formerly the St. Petersburg Times) Website. The main purpose of the new website is to create a more personalized experience for readers, making articles that fit their interests easier to find.[5]

In 2012, the company was selected to design the user interface for the dashboard display and phone app for Microsoft's customized Ford Mustang as part of Microsoft's "Project Detroit" project, in conjunction with West Coast Customs. The company's work was featured on an episode of West Coast Customs on Discovery Channel's Velocity Network.[6]

As of 2014, the company's major website development clients included Autotrader.com, Wells Fargo, Cummins, Morris Group International and YouCaring.com.[7]

Recognition[edit]

The company was named one of the top 10 SEO web design companies in the world by Top SEOs,[8] and was listed on Inc.com’s 5000 fastest growing private companies in the U.S. in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.[9]

The company has won several American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards for its work.[10][11]

In 2009 and 2010, the company was recognized for its innovative use of Microsoft’s Silverlight technology,[12] Deep Zoom, and for the development of applications for the Windows Phone 7, creating some of the demo apps[13] used by Microsoft during the phone’s launch.
