Anthony James Mayers, known as A. J. Mayers (born June 19, 1987), is a production manager of AV Creative Services at Lionsgate[1] and a novelist. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California.[2]

Biography[edit]

A native of Laredo, Texas, Mayers graduated in 2005 from United South High School within the United Independent School District in Laredo[3] and in 2009 from the University of Texas at Austin.[4] He received a scholarship through the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium in Austin.[5]

Mayers is an author who has published 5 books as of 2020.[6] In August 2014, he released Black Sheep's Meadow, a crime drama. His earlier books form a trilogy: Among Us (2011), Moonshadow (2012), and The Cosmos of Destiny (2013).[7] His book Final Boarding was published in 2016.

Mayers has marketed for Paramount Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which grossed nearly $66 million in its first weekend in August 2014;[3] Guardians of the Galaxy; Let's Be Cops; If I Stay; and The November Man.[8] Mayers was the production assistant for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.[9]

Mayers is a public speaker on the dangers of bullying.[3] In January 2014, he was named vice chair of Emerge, a Viacom Employee Resource LGBT Group.[9]

In December 2013, Mayor Raul G. Salinas made Mayers the second person to receive the honor of "Laredo's Outstanding Son".[9] In 2014, he was inducted into the "League of Legends" of the United Independent School District.[10]

His time spent at Paramount Pictures gave him the opportunity to work on many films including Transformers, Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Thor, Captain America, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Anchorman 2.[11]

At Universal Pictures he worked on films such as Fifty Shades of Grey, Jurassic World, Minions, Straight Outta Compton, and Furious 7.[11]

Since starting at Lionsgate, he has worked on such films as La La Land and Power Rangers.[11]
