Aalto (clothing brand)
AALTO is a womenswear brand which debuted in 2014 with a collection for the season of Autumn/Winter 2015. It is founded by Tuomas Merikoski, Valeria Martelli and Johan Sandberg.
The brand is Finnish and is based in Paris, France. [1]
THE COLLECTIONS
AALTO designs and produces one precollection and one main collection for each season, and holds two shows as part of the official schedule of Paris Fashion Week.[2] It has also held a show as part of the official schedule of Milan Fashion Week. [3]

COLLABORATIONS
Part of the concept behind AALTO is to work in collabration with artists, often with Finnish origins. Amongst the collaborators are the Moomins [5], conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen, the Jouko Lehtola foundation [6], with RePack [7], with graphic designer collective GRMMXI, with Maison Louis Carré, with artist Laetitia Badaut Haussmann [8] and with artist Sami Saramäki [9], amongst others. During 2017 and 2018, AALTO also has made artistic collaborations with several Finnish photographers, with the collective-run artspace The Community and with artist Tuukka Tammisaari [10]
AWARDS
AALTO has been a finalist of both LVMH[11] and ANDAM prizes in 2016, and the ANDAM prize in again in 2017 [12]. AALTO has also shown at the PreHelsinki FashionEvent Week 2017 [13]
