Abdullah Snobar is the Executive Director of DMZ and the CEO of DMZ Ventures..[1] Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, DMZ helps startup founders build, validate, and scale into world-class companies. Under Snobar's leadership, the incubator has expanded its global impact by establishing partnerships and satellite locations across North America, Latin America, Africa and Asia.[2]

Education & Career[edit]

In 2003, Snobar joined the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantry soldier with the 4th Royal Canadian Regiment, 31st Brigade and was the youngest person in his unit.[3]

After graduating, Snobar began working for Toronto Metropolitan University full-time providing community relations and international development support for the Ted Rogers School School of Management [4]

In 2012, he founded a non-profit organization in Kenya, Supa Maasai Foundation – which aimed to improve the quality of living for the Maasai community, with a focus on women and youth. Snobar led efforts to build a women's cooperative that hired over 150 women, encouraged fair trade and fair wages, and sold handmade beadwork to fund projects.[3]

Snobar was appointed to Executive Director of DMZ in 2015 and is responsible for the strategic direction and continued growth of DMZ. Under his leadership as Executive Director, DMZ was named a top university-based incubator by UBI Global[5]— and was awarded Canada's Most Admired Corporate Culture by Waterstone Human Capital.[6]

Snobar also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of DMZ Ventures, the for-profit investment entity established and owned by Toronto Metropolitan University.[7]

Honours[edit]

In 2018, Snobar was named one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40,[8] an awards program that identifies outstanding young achievers in Canadian business, visionaries and innovators changing the way things are done.
