The AbramsX is a technology demonstrator developed by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). The demonstrator is intended to showcase new technology that could be incorporated in to tanks that could replace 3rd generation main battle tanks such as the M1 Abrams.
Demonstrated technologies include
- Hybrid electric drive train
- Uncrewed turret with an auto-loader
- Improved sensors and electronics
The tank represents a significant departure from previous trends in tank development in that it is lighter than its predecessor.
