Early life[edit]

Adefunke Sharon Kasali was born on 17th April 1963 in Lagos to late Prince Emmanuel William Adesanmi Aromolaran and Mrs. Margaret Olufunmilayo Aromolaran.

She attended the  Sisi Obasa Nursery school before moving on to Ladi Lak Institute, Yaba, Lagos for her primary school education. In 1974, she started her secondary school education at Girls Secondary Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos and sat for the West African Examination Council exams in May/June 1979.

Adefunke Sharon Kasali is an internationally acclaimed chartered accountant. Certified as a public accountant in the United State of America, she is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. In 1986, she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Texas Southern University and obtained a Master of Business Administration in Finance and MIS from the University of Houston, Graduate School of Business in 1991.

Adefunke started her career in the United States of America with the then globally renowned international accounting firm; Arthur Andersen & Co., from where she joined Mobil Oil Corporation in the United States. She was later transferred to Mobil Africa and was based in Nigeria for a few years, before being transferred again to Paris, France and then on to Nairobi, Kenya where she was the Regional Director of Finance, Exxon Mobil Africa & Middle East, for the East She left Exxon Mobil in 2004 and joined Nigeria–Sao Tome & Principe Joint Development Authority as Deputy Director in charge of Audit where she served until her appointment as Executive Secretary, Petroleum Equalization Fund (Mgmt) Board in April 2007, a position she held until 2015. Adefunke currently manages a Financial Services company and a Property Development company under the name Rose Valley. She is the Founder of Diamond Lights Initiative– a non-governmental organization with focus on education of girls from indigent homes and has supported over 150 young women through their university education.

She left Exxon Mobil in 2004 and joined Nigeria–Sao Tome & Principe Joint Development Authority as Deputy Director in charge of Audit where she served until her appointment as Executive Secretary, Petroleum Equalization Fund (Mgmt) Board in April 2007, a position she held until 2015. Adefunke currently manages a Financial Services company and a Property Development company under the name Rose Valley. She is the Founder of Diamond Lights – a non-governmental organization with focus on education of girls from indigent homes and has supported over 150 young women through their university education.

She is also the Lead Pastor of Foundation of Truth Assembly, Abuja and Host of Moments With Pastor Funke, a weekly e-devotional that encourages and inspires thousands of viewers on various social media platforms. Mrs. Adefunke Sharon Kasali is married to Rev. Yomi Kasali and their marriage is blessed with two children.
