Adjoa B. Asamoah is an impact strategist. Asamoah served as the National Advisor for Black Engagement for Joe Biden's 2020 Presidential Campaign.[1]. She is also responsible for introducing the CROWN Act in partnership with state and federal legislature[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Asamoah is of Ghanaian descent.[2]

Asamoah is a graduate of Hopkins School, the third oldest secondary institutions in the U.S. She completed undergraduate and graduate studies at Temple University, earning degrees in Psychology, African American Studies, and Educational Psychology.[3][4]. She holds a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from St. Joseph's University, and holds multiple licenses including one as a behavior specialist. She completed the Women's Campaign School at Yale University training program, as well as the University of Pennsylvania Equity Institute for Doctoral Students at the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education. As an international student, she studied abroad at the University of Ghana at Legon, and she is currently a doctoral candidate in Leadership at George Washington University[4]

Career[edit]

Asamoah is the founder of ABA Consulting, a strategy and external relationships firm headquartered in Washington, DC., where she advises federal, state, and local elected officials.[1]

Asamoah spearheaded legislative victories to codify the first Office on African American Affairs in the United States, and to introduce and pass the landmark anti-hair discrimination bill turned nationwide movement known as the CROWN Act.[2]. Adjoa B. Asamoah worked with NY Assemblywoman Tremaine Wright, as she ushered the first CROWN Act bill across the finish line, and she has worked with officials in states ranging from Maryland to Texas[5]. She partnered with US Senator Cory Booker and Congressman Cedric Richmond on the federal CROWN Act bill, and continues to work with members across the country to outlaw hair discrimination[6][7]

She also served as co-chair for the Democratic National Committee's African American Leadership Council.

In 2020, Congressman Cedric Richmond recommended Asamoah to the 2020 Presidential Biden campaign where she went on to serve as the National Advisor for Black Engagement.[1]
