The script for the film was allegedly written in week, during the Christmas season. Filming went by in a similarly fast pace, with seven days of shooting. Star of the film Adam Hollick remarked that the environment of the shoot was "a lot of fun", but was also fast paced. During the production, Vice News did a story on the feature, entitled, "What It Takes To Make A Hollywood Mockbuster".
Due to the copyright status of the character of Princess Jasmine, which was an original Disney creation and not in the public domain version of the story, the character did not appear in the film. Instead, the main female lead of the film was named Shahzadi.
The film was released in the UK on May 13th, 2019.
On the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score for the film is at 10%, indicating generally unfavorable reviews. Critic reviews were also mostly negative, with Jason Rugaard of MovieMavericks stating, "this well-timed but poorly executed companion piece that will most likely find a home and audience on the Syfy channel later down the line."
