Affrilachian Poets
The Affrilachian Poets is a group of writers founded by a group of writers at the University of Kentucky in 1991.[1]. The term "Affrilachian" was created by Frank X Walker to describe a culturally diverse group[2] that lives in or around the Appalachian Region[3].

Founding members include Frank X Walker, Nikky Finney, Kelly Norman Ellis, Crystal Wilkinson, Gerald Coleman, Ricardo Nazario-Colon, Mitchell L. H. Douglas, Daundra Scisney-Givens, and Thomas Aaron[4].
Notable Works[edit]
An anthology of works by members of the Affrilachian Poets, Black Bone: 25 Years of Affrilachian Poets, was published by the University Press of Kentucky[5] in 2016 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the organization's founding[6]. The collection includes works by Frank X Walker, Nikky Finney, Crystal Wilkinson, Kelly Norman Ellis, Gerald Coleman, and others[7]
