Alan J. Fleming

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Alan José (A.J.) Fleming (born 1979 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a biologist from Ottawa, Canada. He has worked on the acoustic behavior of the Mountain Pine Beetle Dendroctonus ponderosae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae)[1], collaborated on research at Carleton University with Jayne E. Yack, in sound production in caterpillars (Lepidoptera: Bombycoidea)[2], and more recently the taxonomy of Costa Rican Tachinidae (Diptera). He currently studies the tachinid fauna from Area de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG), a 1.430 km² habitat restoration project, located just south of the Costa Rica-Nicaragua border, between the Pacific Ocean and the Cordillera de Tilaran; cataloguing and describing the country's significant tachinid diversity, alongside Daniel H. Janzen[3] and Winifred Hallwachs[4].

He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Biology from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada in 2005, a second B. Sc. in Neuroscience in 2007 and his M. Sc. Biology in 2010 specializing in Neuroethology, all from the same alma mater. He currently holds the position of Honorary Research Associate with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
