Alek Golijanin
Aleksandar (Alek) Golijanin (born January 30, 1991) is a Canadian author, journalist, and social entrepreneur. Golijanin was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina (Yugoslavia). Golijanin’s family emigrated to Ottawa, Canada when he was three years old, after civil war broke out across Yugoslavia.[1] Golijanin graduated from Algonquin College, Athabasca University, and Harvard Kennedy School.
Golijanin launched his own humanitarian initiative AlekGo in 2017[2]. He was recognized for leadership in volunteer diversity[3] and also appeared on Rogers TV to talk about humanitarian work[2]. Golijanin was also a candidate in the Ottawa municipal election, 2018.
In 2022, Golijanin had helped co-create DocConnectCA, a web-based platform that is designed to the healthcare inequities associated with not having a designated family doctor, and that it would be proposed to the Provincial Government as a no-cost solution.[4]
