Alexander Abugov

Alexander Abugov (Russian: Абугов Александр Лазаревич), born on July 26,1962 in Minsk (Belarus, USSR), is Scientist, Engineer and Inventor.

After graduating from high school with Gold Medal he enrolled to machine building department of Belorussian Polytechnic Institute (now Belarusian National Technical University) which he graduated with Excellence ("red diploma") in 1984. While studying at the University he started his research in metalworking technology entering his PhD studies after graduation. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering.[1] (Russian: кандидат технических наук) from Belarusian National Technical University. He published around 100 scientific publications[2] and he was author/co-author of around 70 inventions (USSR Author’s Certificates)[3]. His inventions were used in different industries and sign "Inventor of the USSR" was issued to him. Some of his publications were republished in Soviet (later Russian) Engineering Research Journal (Allerton Press)[4][5]. His publications and inventions were cited by number of publications in different countries[6][7][8][9][10][11][12].

In June of 2017 he was named in the top 2% of researchers on Academia.edu by 30-day views [13]. His publications were viewed by researchers from around 20 countries [14].

Being involved in inventor’s activity he studied TRIZ and other innovation methodologies. He received degree in Patent Studies (Patent Expert) from Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (Moscow, Russia).

After spending number of years with research of metal surface quality after surface finishing with needle milling (microscalping) and surface plastic deformation he switched to research of Total Quality Management (especially quality of technological and metrological support of production). He worked on creating new courses on Quality Control and Quality Systems for undergraduate students at Belarusian National Technical University and he gave training to working professionals of Belarusian companies preparing for ISO 9000 certification.

In early 1990th he became interested in Judaic/Jewish Studies. He graduated from Moscow State University (program of Institute of Asian and African Studies) with degree in Judaic Studies and acquired Teacher's Certificate in Judaic Studies in Diaspora from Bar-Ilan University (Israel). He worked as a tutor for Open University of Israel in Belarus.

After immigration to the USA in 1996 he started working for software industry in Boston, MA and vicinity (Invention Machine Corporation (acquired by IHS Markit), Banta Integrated Media (acquired by RR Donnelley), Kronos Inc., SeaChange International, Virgin Pulse, ScerIS Inc.). He also graduated from Brandeis University with Master in Software Engineering. His interests are in Software Quality and Scrum project framework. He is Certified ScrumMaster® and Certified Scrum Professional® from Scrum Alliance®.
