Alexander Claffy

Alexander Claffy is a Philadelphia Born / New York City based Bassist, Composer, Educator and Bandleader. Mainly known for his work with Jimmy Cobb, Louis Hayes, Joey Alexander, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Chris Botti and many others. His band CLAFFY released their first record on RopeaDope records in 2016, with "CLAFFY II" expected to be released in 2019. His father, Joseph Claffy is a notable society bandleader in the Philadelphia area. He was raised in the Philadelphia music community by musicians like Orrin Evans, Mike Boone, Mickey Roker and Sid Simmons. After attending The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, his work continued around the New York Greenwich village scene. He's recorded for the Verve, Highnote, RopeADope, and LaReserve Record Labels. Alexander also appeared on the first three seasons of the Nickelodeon show "Blue's Clues"

His next upcoming release is "Michelle and Other Love Songs" on the LaReserve Record Label; featuring David Kikoski, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joel Frahm, Veronica Swift, Benny Benack III and many others (Fall 2018).

Claffy currently resides in Harlem.
