Alexzandria Elizabeth Bernard (born November 3, 1990) better known as "Alexza" is an American female R&B/Pop Artist, Writer and Producer. She's been most notable for her association with Irv Gotti's Murder Inc records, contribution to the Irv Gotti Presents: Tales[1] soundtrack for the BET hit show Tales, and collaboration with Jim Jones on his album Wasted Talent.
Early Life[edit]
Alexza was born and raised in Long Island, New York, and has always had a passion for music. She was born to both musicians Trevor Bernard, a bass player and Brenda Jones, an R&B songstress signed to wave records in 1982. She is the middle of 3 children. It was her parents that played an essential role in imparting musical influences including Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Selena, and Jimi Hendrix. At the age of 11, Alexza began writing her own music then professionally recording at the age of 15.
Career[edit]
Alexza started her professional career recording music across multiple recording studios throughout Queens, New York. Her tenacious attitude and open willingness to collaborate made her presence common place among notable artists in the New York music community. In attempts to build her music career she would perform her music at different clubs including The Bowery Poetry Club, Karma Lounge and Earwax Sessions. Early on, this blue-collar approach lead to new connections that fostered opportunities to collaborate with New York artists including Chinx Drugs and NBA player / rapper C.J Miles. She eventually worked her way up to drawing attention from major promoters, allowing her to open for major artists across the country such as Tory Lanez at Venue 578[2] in Orlando.
It was her diverse musical style that garnered the most attention from prominent artists, writers and producers in her city. In 2017 her writing skills would land her the opportunity to collaborate with Music Mogul and Founder of Murder Inc records, Irv Gotti on his project Tales on BET. She wrote and recorded just under a dozen songs with various artists that featured on the television series and accompanying soundtrack. One of those artists being rapper Jim Jones from The Diplomats.
The following year Alexza was chosen by Jones to appear on his six studio album Wasted Talent, on the 7th title track "Got to B Real". Major media outlets labeled it his best album to date.[3]
