Alia Youssef Sister Project

The Sisters Project combats negative stereotypes of Muslim women by displaying the diverse stories and lives of Muslim women across Canada. This project creates a space where individuals can feel safe to share their stories while also creating a community to make women feel a sense of inclusion, belonging and self-identifying.[1]

About Alia Youssef[edit]

Alia Youssef is an Egyptian-Canadian artist who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography with Distinction from Ryerson University. During her final year at Ryerson in 2017 she created the Sister Project. Youssef has showcased her work and screened her videos in Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa. She is now pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts in Documentary Media at the same institution.[2]
