Career[edit]
Ravasio is the founder and CEO of Hipcamp, a search platform for campers. The Hipcamp site launched in June 2013.[3] The site originally operated solely in California but now operates nationwide with plans for international expansion.[4] The company was founded out of Ravasio's frustration of of booking a campsite.[1] Typically, campers have to look to book campsites months in advance, but Ravasio was looking to book a last minute trip and was frustrated at the lack of availability. Ravasio took part in a 10-week Dev Bootcamp web development course, and wrote the code herself.[1][3] Her sisters helped her source campground photographs.[1] Hipcamp received venture funding in 2014. Hipcamp launched their land sharing program in 2015. Ravasio realized not only the need for an easier campsite book program but also the lack of campsite options. So Hipcamp's land sharing program sought to connect private land owners with campers.[4] Hipcamp created their own app in 2019. Hipcamp is operating in California, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maine, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Hipcamp developed their own Dark Skies Map that helps to locate the best camping sites for stargazing.[5] This Dark Skies Map measures a few factors including urban light pollution and the moon cycle.[5]

Alyssa lives in San Francisco.[3] She enjoys outdoor activities. She has a passion for helping the planet.[3] Ravasio is a board member for the Recreation Advisory Council.[3] Ravasio also speaks Spanish.[3] Ravasio has a particular interest in Monarch butterflies.[1] Ravasio also likes to bake in her free time.
