Amar Naik

Amar Naik is a British R&B songwriter and record producer, who also releases songs under his production name, Zed Soul.

Biography[edit]

Born to a business family in Ndola, Zambia Naik was educated in the U.K. and holds a masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Leicester. Having been exposed to soul music from an early age, he developed a nuanced ear and appreciation for the genre during his formative years.

Music Career[edit]

Naik’s demos caught the attention of Soulmusic.com founder, biographer and industry veteran, David Nathan, and subsequently Expansion Records.

Naik has worked with notable artists within the U.K. R&B community including Bashiyra, Chris Ballin, and Noel McKoy amongst others. Transatlantic collaboration has also featured multi-platinum and Grammy nominated saxophonist, Najee.

Contributing to the exclusive SoulMusic Records anthology Global Music Unites, a digital-only album benefiting SOS Children’s Villages, Mission Direct and The Hunger Project charities in his native homeland, Naik was granted an audience with the country’s founding father and first President, Dr Kenneth Kaunda.

He is currently working on his own Zed Soul album project, plus new material with other established and up-and-coming artists.
