Biography[edit]

Amikam Bar Garma was born in Israel on the 6th of December, 1947. He graduated (1965) with his studies in the professional high school for art "Wizo France" at Nahlat Yitzhak in Tel Aviv in drawing, graphics, ceramics, and sculpture as a major.

Amikam Bar Garma studied technology and ceramic design in the Bezalel academy (1971) and opened a ceramics studio in Herzliya named "Netzer Kadarim" where he practiced applied ceramics in design and ceramic sculpture. Followed by a few years of intensive ceramic and ceramic sculpture practices he ran his course in ceramic sculpture and in the year 1983, returned to practice drawing.[1] In 2019, 45 years later, his ceramic pieces are sold as vintage products at all auction houses in Israel.

During the years 1968-2019 Amikam displayed numerous painting exhibitions in Israel as well as in museums and galleries worldwide.[2][3][4]

After studying pedagogy in the tuition college of Beit Berl (1988) and progressing in art history and psychology at the Open University (2001) he began teaching art and painting at the culture department cathedra of Herzliya city. In other times he founded in Petah Tikva a painting school acknowledged by the Education and Culture Ministry of Israel (2018).[5][6][7]

Artistic style[edit]

In his artistic career, Amikam practices different styles that characterize the schools of painting during the '70s and '80s in the 20th century. In recent years, his pieces are characterized with a romantic approach while using expressive and symbolic values and imagery from the world and natural environment in which he lives.[8]

Recognition[edit]

In the year 1965, he received a scholarship from America-Israel Cultural Foundation for young artists. He is a member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association (2003). Amikam Bar Garma is found in the "Israel Artists" records at the Museum of Jerusalem.

Amikam Bar Garma exhibited at MIIT Museum, Turin, Italy which is affiliated to the MIIT Museum at Rome[9][10], as well as in Satura gallery, Genoa[11], Italy as well as in the Cultural Center Art Museum ZIL in Moscow.
