Amir Hooshang Jazi Zadeh born in 1933 in Isfahan is one of the most talented and renowned contemporary miniature artists and  designers in Iran who has more than fifty years of experience in the field.

Biography[edit]

Amir hooshang Jazi zadeh was born in 1933 in Isfahan to an art loving family. One of his grandfathers was "Akhund-e-Gazi a famous judge in Isfahan and his maternal grandfather "Agha-mohamad-ali-mozaheb" was an artist. At the age of seven he started to learn painting from his uncle "Mahmud-e-tazhibi" and at the age of twelve by the advice of his father he attended sessions of painting at the presence of "Master Javad Rostam-shirazi" where the master had a great role in his professional life. With this background and his great passion to the art of painting he entered the "Isfahan Conservatory of Fine Arts" and started  the course of Persian miniature with the advice of "Isa Bahadori". He was able to complete the six year course of conservatory during four years. He was granted an scholarship to travel to England and took graduate courses in Design and Ceramics in London. He had the opportunity to be trained by the great masters of the time Javad Rostam Shirazi, Mirza-Agha-Emami, Haj-Mosaver-ol-Molki, and Mohammad-Naser Safa, among which Javad Rostam Shirazi had a greater influence on his growth. Then he was hired by the educational organization and worked there for four years and afterwards by the recommendation of Isa Bahadori the director of Isfahan Conservatory of Fine arts entered the Ministry of culture and started teaching Carpet design. His cooperation with Isa Bahadori continued for 26 years.[1] He was one of the distinguished masters of the conservatory and for a period of time he was the director of the conservatory.[2]

At the 6th biennial of Persian miniature in 2006 he was a member of the referee committee and there one of his paintings was shown to the public and was called to be one or the precursors of the contemporary miniature painting.

He was also a member of the jury committee at the national festival of "Razavi art contest" in 2007.

He had several educational trips to the United States and has thought in different universities of Iran such as university of Yazd, Pardis university, art university of Yazd and university of Ardakan.

Style of his works[edit]

He is a follower of the school of Isfahan in his works and color doesn't not playing the main role on his art works. He demonstrates a strong power when drawing paintings which are consisted of mono color lines.

His works[edit]

There are several pieces of his works which are preserved in museums around the world. Fifty years ago the royal family of Iran used to give of his paintings as present to the official heads of the countries travelling to Iran such as the King of Belgium and the Prince of Japan. His works are now kept in Buckingham Palace the royal palace of Belgium, the royal palace of Finland, National Art museum and the contemporary art museum of Tehran, etc.

He has participated in many different exhibitions inside and outside Iran in countries such as the United States, Belgium, United kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Algeria, Morocco, India, China, Oman, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. He has also been present in more than 25 exhibitions in Iran specially in Tehran.

  • Receiving the first grade of art in miniature painting which is equal to PHD from the culture organization in Iran.
  • Silver award in art contest in 1958 in Brussels.
  • Sign of honour from the Algerian government.
  • Diploma from the Euro-Asian biennial in Turkey
