Amitava Nath born in October 1966 in Kolkata is a renowned Birder and bird photographer. He had a love for the winged creatures since his childhood which become his passion after he completed his graduation in Biological Science From Kolkata University. Due to this passion he has traveled a lot almost every part of India. He is also a high altitude trekker. He trekked Round Annapurna, Trans Himalayan, Kanchenjunga Base Camp, Nanda devi base camp and many more. He has visited every Bird sanctuary of India.

After completing his graduation, he studied Master Degree in French language and literature from Kolkata University. He has a love for learning different languages. He can speak French, Oriya, Nepali and Assamese almost like his mother tongue Bengali.

Since 1990 he is traveling for taking photographs of bird. Though he has visited every bird sanctuaries of India and many other birding spots , his main love is taking photographs of beautiful birds of the Himalayan region. He has captured many rare pictures of Himalayan bird like Himalayan Monal, Himalayan snowcock, Blyth’s tragopan, Western tragopan, Kashmir nuthatch, Kashmir flycatcher, Himalayan black-lored tit and many more. He also write a blog named Birds Of India for new birder where he described about the way of identification, habits and habitats, nesting process and beautiful rituals of love of different birds. Beside that he is associated with National Geographic photo forum, Audubon society forum, Royal Society for Protection of Birds (RSPB ) U.K forum, Nikkon photo forum and Manchester birding forum where he post photographs of birds regularly. He has been described as one of the reputed bird photographer in Times of India.
