Angel Heredia (born 6 September 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder.

Club career[edit]

Heredia played for both the San Jose Earthquakes[2][3] and Chivas USA reserve teams in the MLS Reserve League before going to college at Pima Community College, playing for the Aztecs men's soccer program. He joined FC Tucson after he graduated, but did not make an appearance. At the end of the season, he was the first ever player to sign for Oakland Roots SC[4], who were due to play in the NPSL Founders Cup, but pulled out to join the National Independent Soccer Association. He later signed a professional contract with the club after they signed Devante Dubose and turned professional. In the 2019 Fall season, Heredia played every game, with three starts in six, as well as a start in an international friendly against Club Atlético Zacatepec of the Ascenso MX.[1]. In the 2019 Spring season, he started both games, but was still without a goal for the Roots.[1] He played in the Oakland Roots Justice Match, scoring a goal for Team Dania in a 4–4 draw.[1] He did not play in the 2020 Fall regular season, but played in the Fall Playoffs, with one start and two substitute appearances in the Group Stage.[1] He started the semifinal, a 3–2 win against Chattanooga FC.[1] He finally scored his first competitive goal for the Roots, the second goal in that game.[1] In the final, he came on with two minutes to go. The Roots were 2–1 down to Detroit City FC, and it stayed that way, with Detroit winning the title.[1] With his goal against Chattanooga, Heredia won Roots Goal of the Year but was not retained for the Roots' upcoming USL Championship season.

International career[edit]

In 2013, following his excellent MLS Reserve League performances, he was invited to the United States U17 national team's residency program in Bradenton, Florida and played three matches for the team.[4][3]
