Ankle Deep: A Water Ballet

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Ankle Deep: A Water Ballet was a performance art piece performed once in Volunteer Park in Seattle on July 24, 2017.[1]

This performance was concieved by Seattle-based artist Briar Rose Bates. The initial idea came to her after she was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2016. She was "looking up at a chandelier she’d made with Barbie dolls in swimming caps and a symmetrical, Busby Berkeley-style formation" when it came to her.[1]

Many of Briar's friends helped her make the performance a reality, doing everything including costumes, choreography, shooting and performing. Briar acted as director up until her death on June 28th, 2017.[1][2] The performance was carried out by 38 of her friends and was a one time performance.[3]
