Annu Marttila

Annu Marttila was born on the 23rd of May 1973 in Helsinki. She was a child actress and is now a business owner.

Marttila had one of the main roles in Heikki Partanen’s movie “Pessi Ja Illusia” (1984), in which she impersonated Illusia[1]. In 1986, she also played a part in Päivi Hertzell’s movie Lumikuningatar[2]. Annu Marttila has two daughters: Amanda Malatesta (born on the 11th of July 1994 in Helsinki) and Francesca Malatesta (born on the 11th of August 1998 in Helsinki). Marttila married Marios Roukis on the year of 2010.

Annu Marttila graduated from the Itäkeskus secondary school in 1992 and obtained her Master’s Degree from the Helsinki University in 2003. In January 2010, Marttila obtained her doctorate in linguistics from the Faculty of Humanities in Helsinki. Her dissertation, A Cross-Linguistic Study of Lexical Iconicity and its Manifestation in Bird Names published in 2011 by Lincom Europa, related to the names attributed to birds according to the sounds they emitted in the context of Lexical Iconicity[3].

Marttila then applied for a patent for the pronouncer Europe OY, a method of linguistic profiling that could recognize the linguistic background or level of proficiency of one's language using his speech pattern[4]. The patent is however still pending.

In 1997, Marttila founded the advertising company La Fée Oy, which has a branch in Athens.
