Anthony "Marc" Perrone is the president of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW)., one of North America's largest private-sector labor unions, representing 1.3 million workers in Canada, the United States, and Puerto Rico.
Activism and Career
Perrone's activism in the UFCW and the broader labour movement started while working at Weingartens supermarket as a teenager .
Over the next four decades, he served the UFCW as an international representative, crew coordinator, and executive assistant focused on organizing, until 2004 when he became the union's secretary treasurer.
In 2014, Perrone became the UFCW's fourth international president, upon the retirement of Joseph T. Hansen.
In 2017, Perrone was awarded the "At the River I Stand Award" by the AFL-CIO(UFCW)
