Anthony Synnott, is a Canadian sociologist of Scottish-Irish background. His principle work is Sociology of the body and the senses to men and masculinities. He is the author or co-author of five books, has published about 80 articles, chapters and reviews as well as posted about 40 blogs on Psychology Today..[1]

Biography[edit]

Personal[edit]

Scottish born Anthony Synnott served briefly in the Royal Navy and the Jesuits. He is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University in Montreal.[2] His research has ranged over many topics, including the body and senses, Men and Masculinities, Visual sociology, Social problems in Canada. Anthony Synnott retired in June 2015. He is currently engaged in composing Nonsense verse and writing occasional blogs for Psychology Today and a collection of essays..

Education[edit]

Synnott earned a B.Sc. (Econ) at the London School of Economics., then his M.A.at the University of Western Ontario and his PhD from London University.
