Gameplay[edit]

Gameplay features a blending of the team-fighting experience from MOBAs with the controls and style of an MMORPG. Each battle contains two teams (Light and Dark) which fight to the death in a 3v3 arena with the winner advancing in Ascension matchmaking system.

Features[edit]

  • No install necessary.
  • No lanes, minions, or items.
  • Players choose from 10 Playable Classes and customize their Spell Bar with 6 Spells from a large Spell Book.
  • Theorycraft limitless (10^32) team compositions.
  • Flexible matchmaking (Solo, Duo, and Trio queue supported).
  • Play until you lose. Climb to the Arena of Kings in a King of the hill style matchmaking system.
  • Fast ~2 minutes per game.

Classes[edit]

There are 10 Playable Classes in Arena of Kings. Each Class offers unique spells, attributes, and characteristics that defines its play-style. In Arena of Kings you can customize your Class to play as a healer, damage dealer, tank, and/or utility role. A good team composition will have a balanced assortment of spell types that will compliment each other throughout battle.

  • Assassins are masters of Stealth, capable of Annihilating victims through bursts of Energy. Sneak in or out of battle with skillful tactics to deceive and elude your opponents, striking vulnerable foes when the flow of battle is in your favor. Mastering the art of offense, control, and avoidance are essential in devastating those that stand in your way.
  • Champions are elite fighters with sheer force that excel in close-combat brawls to generate Rage while supporting allies with powerful Warcries. Equipped with Plate armor and a massive two-handed sword, any foe within striking distance will swiftly be Decapitated from an onslaught of attacks. One would be foolish to engage a Champion head-on in a fight.
  • Elders embody aspects of life and death through the form of nature magic. Primarily Revitalizing allies with restorative Buffs and heals, the Elder can also conjure Windstorms to provide immediate reprieve from fierce threats. Shapeshift when in danger, transforming into a nimble Spirit Wolf that is tough to catch in any Arena.
  • Liches are exiled cultists with a fascination for Shadow magic and Poisonous necromancy. Watch enemies languish from your dark Torment. Primarily through curses and other Debuffs, a Lich will slowly suck the life out of an entire enemy team. Be wary, for using black magic in exchange for Power may hurt you, making you vulnerable in the Arena.
  • Mystics are prophetic seers that manipulate threads of the universe through Spiritual rituals and communion of the supernatural. Wearing only Cloth robes, Mystics rely on ancestral tutelage to cast Healing Visions and the conjuring of Temporal Barriers for defense. As an alternative threat create a Blackout, unleashing visions of Fear into your opponents' minds.
  • Nihilists are Power-hungry force users seduced by Mana assimilated from the corrupted Orb they carry. Summon diverse Orbs in the Arena to assist your allies, swaying the tides of battle in your favor. Manipulate dark energy to infiltrate the Mind of your enemies, Leeching their life and rendering them helpless, or convert it to heal and bolster your allies' potency.
  • Paladins are fanatical holy knights blessed with Heaven's Guidance. Equipped with a shield and exceptional Plate armor, provide Sanctuary to allies through Divine spells or relentless aggression to foes that stand in your way. This righteous force is capable of calling down Heaven's Wrath at a moment's notice, vanquishing your foes with Burning retribution.
  • Rangers are seasoned pathfinders, adept at augmenting their arrows to apply variety of deadly Status Ailments. Fire arrows into foes from a greater distance to deal additional damage, leaving them Bleeding, Hobbled, Poisoned, and Stunned. Being highly mobile and flexible at target switching, a Ranger can Rain Arrows anytime, anywhere.
  • Scholars are religious followers and students of Nosrevi, one of the Old Gods. These supportive Truth-seekers recite Gospels, providing tremendously powerful global Buffs to all allies in the Arena. Instead of using brute force, Scholars rely on unique Crowd Control and various utility spells to make the presence of their Gods felt in the Arena.
  • Wizards are disciplined masters of Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Arcane schools of magic. Utilizing a combinations of the elements, manipulate the flow of battle within the blink of an eye. Through Teleportation, Burning Meteors, Shocking Lightning Strikes, or violent Ice Storms, enemies will be overwhelmed by an elemental onslaught created by a clever Wizard.

Spells & Abilities[edit]

Each Class has a Spell Book consisting of 14-20 unique spells or abilities. Each player has a Spell Bar which has 6 slots where different spells or abilities can be equipped. Before entering matchmaking, players can choose damage, healing, crowd control, and utility spells to customize their role. Players cannot make any changes to their Spell Bar after queuing for Ascension. Experiment with various combinations of spells and abilities in the lobby, as there is no penalty for customizing/changing your Spell Bar.

Game Modes[edit]

Ascension[1] is a King of the Hill style playable game mode in Arena of Kings. Ascension features a pyramid-structured continuous global tournament built into the matchmaking system. In this game mode, the winning team accumulates win streaks to ascend The Arena of Kings, an exclusive Arena reserved for the most worthy team. The losing team has their win streak reset and is sent back to the game lobby, allowing players to restructure their team composition.
