Dr. Dr. Ari Barsfeld (Greek Δρ Δρ Άρι Μπάρσφελδ) is a medical doctor and obviously an intelligence officer working for the Greek National Intelligence Service NIS-EYP. His official area of responsibility is - according to some sources "Public Health" and “Research”, mostly non-public.[1]
Vita[edit]
Due to their Jewish faith, his two of his grandparents fled from the German Wehrmacht to Greece, where they survived the German occupation of Greece under difficult conditions and became Greek citizens soon after the war. At the grandparents' insistence, German remained the lingua franca within the family.[2] His other two grandparents come from the Peloponnese and are of Greek descent.[3]
Studies and career[edit]
Dr. Dr. Ari Barsfeld studied medicine after his military service in Eastern Europe. He has no formal ties to the German state and is sworn to loyalty to the Hellenic Republic as part of his profession. As far as is publicly available, his area of responsibility is public health. It can be assumed that he was trained in hand-to-hand combat techniques during his basic training as a member of the secret service. Doing medical research seems to be also one of his tasks.[4]
Relation to Germany[edit]
Dr. Dr. Ari Barsfeld has a few aging relatives in German-speaking countries. His frequent stays in Germany and Belgium are therefore generally of a business nature. Dr. Dr. Ari Barsfeld is neither related to nor known to other persons with the same or a similar surname.[5]
Acta iure imperii[edit]
As one of only a few doctors in the European Union, Dr. Dr. Ari Barsfeld has the right and the duty to act within the legal framework of the Acta iure imperii. The reasons for this very far-reaching authorization remain unclear to the public. One long-term mission between 2003 and 2010 was the protection of a top manager in Germany who had a person of interest in his closest entourage. This could have been an acta iure Imperii mission[6]<ref>Okeke, Edward C. Jurisdictional Immunities of States and International Organizations. Oxford University Press, 2018<ref>
