Asit J. Choksi, MD (born on May 26th 1957 [1] ) is an American hematologist [2] and oncologist doctor in The Woodlands, Texas and affiliated with multiple hospitals in Texas area.

PERSONAL LIFE AND EDUCATION[edit]

When Choksi was 18 years old (1975) , he got accepted in Jai Hind College, Mumbai, India and completed his college in 1980. He got Certificate by Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) with score 83 .One year later, Choksi took his Bachelor of Surgery in G.S. Medical School, Bombay, India-M.B.B.S and got certificate by Federation of Licensing Boards (FLEX) with score 84 . In 1983 he got his first General Medical License in State of Illinois.[3]

Asit Choksi is married to Ulupi Choksi which is a internal medicine specialist, endriconology, diabetes and metabolism. [4] They lives in The Woodlands, Texas, United States.

CAREER[edit]

Medical Practice[edit]

Choksi originally relocated to Texas to undertake a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the University of Texas M.D Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC) in 1985. During his Fellowship, Choksi was certified as a Diplomat by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and also as a Diplomat by the ABIM- Medical Oncology, with the 2nd highest exam grade in the country.[5]

Three years later, upon completion of his Fellowship, Choksi held multiple positions within the UTMDAC, as well as the UT Medical School, University of Houston Texas Health Science Center.

When Asit J. Choksi began his practice as an oncologist (1992), and five years later he found the Houston Physicians Medical Association (HPMA) in 1997[6]

Healthcare Businessman[edit]

Greater Houston Physician’s Medical Association[edit]

Choksi opened the Greater Houston Physician’s Medical Association (GHPMA) with 19 other physicians in 2009. GHPMA has grown exponentially over the last 5 years employing over 137 physicians within the community, and over 500 support staff.[7]

Woodlands Ambulatory Surgery Center[edit]

In order to expand the medical services available to the community , Dr. Choksi formed various subsidiary companies including Enzo Medical Services, LP (Enzo) in June 2011. Enzo currently operates two free standing 24 hours emergency center in the Woodlands, Houston, in addition to the Woodlands Ambulatory Surgery Center.[8]

Apollo Hospital in The Woodlands[edit]

Dr. Choksi launched The Apollo Hospital System (Apollo Hospital) in 2013, located in Woodlands, the hospital operates a five bed acute care clinic focusing on personalized, multi-disciplinary medical care. Appolo Hospital currently provides oncology, cardiology and surgical services and house state of the art technology, including a biopsy clinic radiation therapy, infusion therapy and imaging services.[9]

Houston Clinic Cancer awarding Choksi “10 years of dedicated services and Commitment to Excelence in 2002. Choksi was awarded as a Entrepreneur of The Year by Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award in 2007[10] and as a finalist in 2008. [11]

American Biographical Institute awarding Choksi as Named Man of The Year (2009) and World Hall of Fame for integrity and distinction in medicine (2012)[12]
