Asset Integrity Engineering (AIE)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Asset Integrity Engineering (AIE) is an asset integrity service provider which operates across the MENA region, in countries including the UAE, Oman, Algeria, Qatar, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

AIE provides risk based integrity services to the Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Nuclear industries. Asset integrity services improve operational stability, safety and asset protection whilst at the same time help to maximise plant performance and mitigate the constant challenges faces by heavy industries [1][2]

Asset Integrity is a term that relates to the process that improves operational reliability, safety and asset protection whilst at the same time helping to maximize plant performance and mitigate the constant challenges and hazards facing heavy industries such as Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Nuclear.

It is also considered as the discipline and profession of acquiring and applying scientific, mathematical, economic, social, legal and practical knowledge to the assurance, and verification functions that ensure a product, process, or system meets (and is meeting) its appropriate and intended safety, legal and business requirement(s).

Asset Integrity Program - An effective integrity program gives consideration to all of the elements that set the oil and gas companies bar for operational excellence. The elements consist of:

  1. Accountability
  2. Competence
  3. Hazard evaluation and risk management
  4. Facilities and process integrity
  5. Protective systems
  6. Practices and procedures
  7. Management of change
  8. Emergency response
  9. Incident investigation and learning
  10. Performance management and learning

In a post-Macondo Prospect and Piper Alpha world, the role of integrity engineering has been placed under increased scrutiny. Not only can a well-managed integrity engineering programme help operators identify and reduce safety risks before they escalate, but focusing on asset integrity can also play a major role in both achieving operational excellence and extending the life of ageing assets.

In the role of Integrity Management, it is essential that this role is independent so that unbiased and forthright decisions are made to ensure that equipment is designed, maintained, operated and decommissioned in a responsible manner which complies with industry's best practices.
