From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

BRIC, is a documentary series by journalist and host Jorge Lanata, ten chapters produced by Productora Audiovisual for Infinito in 2010.

Research on the BRIC theory (acronym to designate the axis Brazil, Russia, India and China), created by the British economist Jim O'Neill, which postulates that these countries would be the new emerging superpowers by the middle of this century.

Review[edit]

BRIC. The new World." Based on an investigation carried out by Jorge Lanata on the essay published in 2003 by the British Jim O'Neill called Soñando con los BRIC: Rumbo al 2050 ("Dreaming with BRICs: The Path to 2050"), which postulates that the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) would be the next emerging powers in 2050. It triggers a reflection on whether the future of social transformation will be hand in hand with the economic growth of the BRIC, or if it will be a future of misery plus technology. 2

The documentary begins in England with an interview by Lanata to O'Neill in London, and goes through cities in the four BRIC countries in order. Also interviewing actors of power, wealth, students, workers, artists, intellectuals, among others. In the different countries it is seen how the everyday, the economic, the technology, the history, the religion, the natural resources they have and their needs, affect each of these four countries.

Awards and distinctions[edit]

April 2011, category "Community Program of the Year" awarded by the Association of Show Writers (ACE) of New York, with the ACE 2011 award. August 2011, the documentary has a nomination for the Martín Fierro Awards.
