Backlink generator, also known as backlink maker is an online tool to automatically generate backlinks towards a website or a specified page of certain website. This tools is intended to create links which will help a web or a page to increase it's SEO ranking on SERP. Most of such generators use Dynamic Web Page to automatically create a page according to the query which a user had previously input. This generated page will then put a link inside it accordingly to act as a backlink, and such websites will usually let it be for days before search engine bots crawl the page and add it into their index database as a backlink[1]. This is intended to increase the value of Domain and or Page Authority, metrics that search engines use to calculate the value of a website and or a page in order to rank them high in a SERP. The tool would usually come as free, but a lot of the kind also offers a ranging price for their service.
The role of backlink generators[edit]
Having backlinks is one of the critical factors for increasing a website's optimization in a search engine. Backlinks however, are expected to be built naturally and organically instead of deliberately fabricating one. However, doing so takes quite a lot of time and effort, which explains why though Google deliberately opposes the usage of such tool, some SEO practitioners still use them to date.[2]
A blackhat tool[edit]
The usage of this tool is usually classified as Blackhat Search Engine Optimization technique, one that is opposed by Google's approach of making quality content as the primary goal of a website and let backlinks come naturally as an effect of it. Such technique is considered as an effort to manipulate the search engine which Google might take a manual action against, which might result in a deindex.[3] Though their service is categorized as an illegal way to gain backlinks, the service providers are still allowed to be in Google.
Being used by gambling and adult sites[edit]
As a mean to achieve a lot of backlinks with ease, backlink generators are used by black hat SEO practitioners, usually associated with gambling and adult websites to help them rank their websites higher in a SERP related to their niche.[4] This would only worsen the effect of using such service, making a negative backlash higher to happen.
A remaining from the past[edit]
As Google algorithm keeps on changing time by time, this kind of tool are getting left behind by its users for not complying to Google's newest rules. Changes to the algorithms that produce search engine rankings can place a heightened focus on relevance to a particular topic. While some backlinks might be from sources containing highly valuable metrics, they could also be unrelated to the consumer's query or interest.[5]
