After Portuguese Central Bank's resolution on Banco Espírito Santo, S.A. (dated August 2014), the recently incorporated Novo Banco, S.A. became the majority shareholder of Banco Espírito Santo de Cabo Verde incorporated back on July 2010. After it, on November 2014, Banco Espírito Santo de Cabo Verde changed it's name to Banco Internacional de Cabo Verde, S.A. (BICV).

On July 2018, IIBG Holdings BSC (iib), a qualified holding corresponding entity, acquired 90% of Banco Internacional de Cabo Verde, SA (BICV) becoming it's majority shareholder, with the remaining 10% being held by Novo Banco, S.A. IIBG Holdings BSC (iib) is a holding company based in Bahrain that aims to acquire and manage bank assets in the Middle East and Africa.
