History[edit]

On a Sunday evening in May of 1973, 137 individuals reacted to God's test to shape another congregation with a mission of coming to and helping individuals in far south Austin. The congregation called James W. Abington as its first minister. The gathering initially met Sunday mornings at Crockett secondary School, at that point at Sunset Valley Elementary School, and on Wednesday evenings could utilize the offices at Bethany Lutheran Church. In 1974, the congregation individuals started meeting at the present area on Brodie Lane, which was not in excess of a soil street in a scantily populated zone of Austin. Since those first gatherings, both Bannockburn and the neighborhood group have kept on extending, and hint at no moderating their development. Minister Abington and his better half, Doris Elaine, served 30 years to the enrollment until his passing in May 2003. About a year later, in April 2004, Bannockburn Baptist Church called its second minister, Ryan Rush.
