BattleBots (board game)
.
BattleBots is a board game that was published by Snarling Badger Games in 1993.
Gameplay[edit]
BattleBots is a combat game where players construct robots using statistics found in the rules, then send them to fight in an arena.[1]
The game comes packaged in a CD jewel case, and includes[2]
- a 24-page 4.5" x 5" rule book
- a 8.25" x 9.5" grid map of the combat arena
- several blank character sheets
- six cardstock foldover figures to serve as figurines
- two very small dice
Reception[edit]
In the May 1995 edition of Dragon (Issue 217), Lester Smith initially questioned the price of the game, which "seems a bit steep considering the quality of the components." But Smith found "the rules are nicely designed and clearly written; there are no 'iffy' areas for debate during play." He thought the rules alone were worth the price of the game, and planned to "build a 3-D arena and paint up some robots for play at conventions." He concluded, "If you judge a product by the component materials, this one will probably disappoint you. But if you don’t mind forking over $11 for sheer play value, I definitely recommend this game."[2]
