Beau Jordan Te Wera Bishop (born 6 July 1993) is an New Zealand professional baseball Catcher for the Auckland Tuatara of the Australian Baseball League.

Career[edit]

Beau Te Wera Bishop was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 2011. Bishop played his first year for the GCL Red Sox in 2012 where he slashed .189/.208/.440 with 10 hits in 53 at bats tallying 1 2B 9 runs 6 RBIs 3 walks and 16 strike outs. He returned the following year in 2013 only playing in two games before he returned to Australia to play for the Adelaide Bite of the Australian Baseball League now known as the Adelaide Giants he played in 4 games for them have 6 plate appearances getting walked once and striking out 3 times. Then in 2015 he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers playing one game for the AZL Brewers going 1 for 2 with 1 RBI before he would return to the Adelaide Giants in the same year. Playing in 3 games slashing .200/.200/.400 with 5 at bats 1 hit and 2 strike outs. He would then take a few years off professional baseball before returning in 2018 for the new Australian Baseball League expansion team the Auckland Tuatara in there debut season playing in 28 0f there 40 games playin 20 at catcher 7 at First base and 1 at Third base slashing .220/.308/.568 with 97 plate appearances 20 hits 5 doubles 1 homerun 9 runs scored 9 RBIs 5 walks and 27 strike outs. He would return to the Tuatara in the 2019-2020 season where he would only play in 16 games that year where he played 11 games at catcher, 2 at firstbase and 3 at Designated Hitter slashing .213/.213/.473 with 50 plate appearances 10 hits 2 runs 3 RBIs 3 walks and 15 strike outs Bishop hasn't played professional since this season because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

New Zealand National Team[edit]

Beau Te Wera Bishop has been apart of the New Zealand national baseball team since the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Sydney where the Diamondblacks faced off against South Africa in there first game going down 7 to 1 forcing the Diamondblacks into a win at all coast game against the Philippines where the Diamondblacks would mercy the Philippines 17-7 in the next game of the tournament the Diamondblacks would once again face off against South Africa for the rights to play Australia in the tournament final but would end up falling to South Africa 9-2. Te Wera Bishop was also selected in the 2021 World Baseball Classic Qualifier but it was postponed and then eventually canceled due to Covid-19.
