Bency Joy

Bency Joy (ബെൻസി ജോയ്), a motivator, Environmentalist, former Professor in Andaman College[1] (ANCOL) in Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and a former school teacher.He is known for his dedication he gives towards his profession, and having influence many students. He formerly worked as GTT Maths teacher in Education Department[2] in Andaman & Nicobar Administration[3]. Currently he is PhD Scholar in Psychology[1] and worked as a Head of Department in Psychology Department in Andaman College.

Biography[edit]

Early Life[edit]

Born to a Malayali speaking Christian family on 23 July 1973 in Bambooflat, near Port Blair. His parents hails from Kollam district of Kerala. His family were settled in Wimberlygunj village in Ferrargunj Teshil in South Andaman district (then Andaman District).

Education[edit]

After completing schooling from Govt. Senior Secondary School, Wimberly Gunj, a Central Board of Secondary Education school, he joined Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair, after completing graduation he did his M.Phil. He was appointed as a GTT teacher in Education Department of Andaman & Nicobar Administration[4]. He works in various places such as Port Blair, Rangat, Diglipur, Havelock Island. He currently pursuing his PhD in Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore (2014-present).

Family[edit]

He is married to Bindu Bency and blessed with a son Reuben B Joy. Mrs. Bindu Bency works at Agriculture Department[5]. He lives with his wife and son in his residence at Port Blair.

Profession[edit]

He worked as a Maths teacher in Education Department[6]. After the formation of Andaman College[7] in 2014, he was appointed to Head of Department of Psychology.

One of his childhood friend, inspired him to take up the cause of environment in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. When he was posted in a school Havelock Island, he formed an Eco-Club for students and started conducting awareness program and since then there is no looking back.

Apart from algebra and geometry in schools, he gives lessons to save turtle nests, educate and spread awareness, helps in making paper bag. He writes blogs for his students and poem in his leisure time and a nature lover who often goes out on birdwatching and creating awareness.

Influence[edit]

He has always been a motivator to his students about their study, way of living life, habits and in many more ways. His students are now in various successful position settled around the country. As a teacher he is always innovative and brings new and interesting methodologies in his way of teaching. He is always been student favorite.

  • If you fail to plan that means you plan to fail.
  • If you contribute your bit, everyone may not follow it. At least one or two will. It will have a multiplying effect.
  • If you want to change something about yourself, repeat your intentions over and over. Eventually your brain will get into a new pattern.
