From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Beyond Ideology: Politics, Principles, and Partisanship in the U.S. Senate, by Frances E. Lee, is a book that analyzes Senate voting behavior with new conclusions about motivators.

It demonstrates that Senators vote approximately 50% of the time on a purely partisan basis. This deviates form the traditional thinking that ideological factors were the overwhelming reason for a Senators' support for any given bill.[1]
