Bing J. Carbone is the President of Modern Plastics, in Shelton, Connecticut USA.

Early Life & Education[edit]

Bing Carbone is the oldest of five children with a brother and three sisters and parents of James and Barbara Carbone. Bing lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut in the East End early in his life, moved to Monroe, Connecticut . Bing learned how to play the drums from a very early age and then in later years, self-taught himself on bass guitar. His love for music ranged from The Beatles, The Moody Blues, Neil Diamond, Chicago, Paul McCartney and Peter Cetera. His family moved to Fairfield, Connecticut in the 1970's and then finally in his high-school years, to Trumbull, Connecticut. Bing enjoyed sports while growing up playing high school basketball and some football. He also enjoyed his first-car in high-school, a 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette, which he proudly drove to Trumbull High School. Bing was an average student in high-school, but soon ended upon the Dean's List in college all four-years of his college education.

Biography[edit]

While attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, Bing worked at Modern Plastics, a family business located in Bridgeport, Connecticut at that time. He learned the business from the ground up, from his grandfather, Joseph C. Carbone and his father, James A. Carbone first sweeping the warehouse floors and eventually into the sales office of Modern Plastics upon college graduation in 1984 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and Management. In 1989 Bing married Maria C. Fradiani from East Haven, Connecticut and would later divorce some 23-year later. During the marriage they had two daughters, Nicole M. Carbone and Jamie M. Carbone. In 1992, Bing became Vice-President of the family business, Modern Plastics, spearheading a path for the company that would change its business direction forever. Bing moved from Bridgeport shortly after being married to Shelton, Connecticut where he has resided for over 25-years. In 2015, Bing published his first book, "The Positive Leader With a Big Impact - Business Lessons Learned To Make Money And Have Fun Doing it" which has sold countless copies on Amazon.com. He created his own website www.bingcarbone.com which discusses aspects of his book and leadership topics, the latter, an intense passion he possesses. He is also a true fan of Walt Disney World, having been there as a park guest well over one-hundred time. His nephew by marriage is Nick Fradiani, a television American Idol Winner and song writer-musician.

Gardening[edit]

Bing is a devout expert gardener, having learned the hobby from his great-grandparents Paul and Bertha Urda (immigrants from Czechoslovakia) and his grandparents from Bridgeport, Connecticut, Robert and Frances Maiden and from his mother, Barbara C. Carbone, who bought Bing a thick book on gardening called "Ten-Thousand Questions on Gardening: Answered." Bing started his very first garden at his parents home in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1975, and never stopped gardening from that point on. In the 1990's Bing wrote a weekly column for the Connecticut Post Newspaper for well over 25-years to an endearing audience of readers and followers. he has published a variety of garden articles in major national gardening publications.

Career[edit]

Bing Carbone became President of Modern Plastics in 1998 and directed the family business of Modern Plastics into a concentration of High-Performance Engineering Grade Stock Shapes, Medical Grade Plastics and Custom Plastics Fabrication. In September of 2001, Modern Plastics became the first Plastics Distribution company to become ISO 9001:2000 Certified. He continued to pioneer changes within the plastics distribution industry adding custom plastics software, material bar-coding and traceability to all its plastics products, 20-year plus record retention and an expansive product line that began to sell across North America and Internationally. The company quickly became an industry leader of high-tech and medical grade plastic materials with an elite customer global customer base. In 2006, the Carbone family sold the business to Laird Plastics (today, under the umbrella of North American Plastics). The company retained its name Modern Plastics, and Bing stayed on as President of the company. In 2010, Modern Plastics moved from its original location since 1945 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to a brand new state-of-the-art facility in Shelton, Connecticut. Bing has become recognized and well-known for his longevity in plastics distribution at Modern Plastics and his many contributions in the plastics industry. Bing gives back to the community in many ways, one of them being his passion for student education. He has participated in multiple business leadership discussions at Sacred Heart University, Jack Welch College of Business and Southern Connecticut State University, School of Business in New Haven, Connecticut of which he is an honorary member of the Delta Mu Delta Society. In the latter half of Bing's career he credits Mark W. Kramer as his personal and business mentor.
