Introduction[edit]

Bishar (also spelt as Bisar or Bisad) is a village in district Pithoragarh in the state of Uttarakhand in India. This village is situated about 5 km from Pithoragarh town. This is a village where prominent Brahmins of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state reside. The surname of these Brahmins is 'Bhatt'. A motorable road passes in the vicinity of the village. The option of walking 5 km on feet also is there which was earlier a regular practice. Local Language is Kumaoni and Hindi. As per India year 2011 census the total population of the village is 524 and number of houses are 130.

There is a small village Post Office in Bishar having PIN code 262501.

More about Bishar[edit]

The village is having a natural spring known as 'Maghroo' at the base of the nearby hill 'Dhwaj'. The source of water for this spring is from the Dhwaj hill and the associated large catchment area. Now there is a public drinking water pipeline in the village from which individual households can tap water but still, the cool and nice mineral water of this spring is taken for consumption by the people. The Shiva temple 'Mahadev' is the most revered temple in this area.

Many people who have got good jobs have sifted to the Pithoragarh town and those who got jobs outside have migrated to other districts or states in India.
