Bogdon is an American confectionery that makes candy sticks for different occasions. It was founded in 1945 by Walter Bogdon. Their products include Reception Sticks, Brittle Candy Sticks, and Peppermint North Poles. The brand is currently owned by Roses Brands.
Overview[edit]
In 1945, Bogdon founded the company when a customer asked him to make something special and unique for her wedding. He stirred up a batch of hard candy, hand-rolled it into thin sticks, and dipped the sticks into melted bittersweet chocolate. He named the sticks The Bogdon Reception Sticks.
Later the founder registered the trademark for Reception Sticks and obtained a design patent for the product. In 1965, Reception Sticks were named Outstanding Confection by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade.
On July 30, 2009, Bogdon Candy Co. Inc. was acquired by Richardson Brands Company, and in 2020, Richardson was acquired by Roses Brands.
