BoilerMake is an annual student-led hackathon hosted at Purdue University. The event is in partnership with Major League Hacking.[1]

History[edit]

The first BoilerMake event was hosted in February 2014.[2] The inaugural 36-hour event brought over 400 hackers, from 18 different schools and 30 companies.[1] Due to the growing number of hackers, the second and third BoilerMake was moved to Lambert Fieldhouse. [3] BoilerMake continued to expand their hackathon by adding more access to new technology, as well as including more amenities for hackers such as beanbags, arcade games, and side activities such as Yoga.

The past two hackathons both occurred in 2017, one in spring and the other in fall (the former taking on a space theme).[1] The event continues to grow, currently bringing in over 500 hackers every year.[4]

BoilerMake is thrown by an executive board of 25–30 students. The event also features numerous sponsors, some past sponsors include Google, Bloomberg, Rockwell Collins, and Microsoft.[5][6]
