BondIt was founded by partners Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor and officially launched in January 2014..[1][edit]

Company Purpose

BondIt Media Capital provides credit financing for the film and entertainment industry. [2]. This includes pre-sales, tax credits, negative pick-ups, union deposits, corporate financing, and bridge lending. BondIt is known primarily for financing Screen Actors Guild payroll union deposits. [3]. As of April 19, 2018, BondIt had participated in the financing of over 230 feature film and television projects. These projects ranged from micro-budgets to studio level projects. This represents over $200 million dollars of production spending [4] [5]

Company History

2014 When BondIt launched, they strictly did financing for union deposits [6]. The company's growth was supported by independent producer Ted Hope who advised the group to write a monthly column on his Hope for Film blog. BondIt wrote monthly columns on this blog for the next year. The topics of the columns ranged from media finance to entrepreneurship in the current film landscape to film production [7].

By late December 2015, BondIt expanded the company service offerings to include tax credit financing, pre-sales financing, corporate media financing, and cash advance financing along with bridge financing.

2015

In 2015, Patrick DePeters joined the company as CFO and partner [8].

In partnership with ScreenCraft, BondIt launched a Grant Fund with the mission of awarding two projects per year with up to $30,000 of funding to produce the submitted project. In November of 2015, BondIt and ScreenCraft awarded the first Grant Fund recipient to London based photographer and filmmaker Natasja Fourie for her film "13" [9].

2016

In December 2016, BondIt launched "EDU" This was an online masterclass video series providing producers, projects and companies with a better understanding of media finance [10].

In November 2016, BondIt launched an event series in partnership with The Wall Street Journal. These events were primarily focused on discussing the evolving media landscape for producers and audiences[11]

2017-Present

In July 2017, BondIt sold a portion of the company to Accord Financial Accord Financial. Accord Financial (TSX:ACD) is a publicly traded financial services firm based in Toronto.[12] [13]

In May 2017, BondIt bought ABS Payroll & Accounting Services, an entertainment specialized payroll and accounting firm. ABS Payroll soon after underwent a full re-brand changing the corporate name to "ABS Payroll: A BondIt Company" [14] ABS Payroll handles over 700 productions per year.

Current

In November 2017, BondIt was featured as the Company of Note by The Financial Revolutionist. The article detailed that the future of BondIt is focused on becoming a fully rounded media fund in additional entertainment sectors.[15]
