Bons

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bons (from German der BonVoucher, from French bon – Good, also tuzexové poukázky - Tuzex vouchers) were vouchers, with which people could buy luxury items in special shops named Tuzex. Bons were officially exchangable only with foreign currencies (valuty). link=https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soubor:Odb%C4%9Brn%C3%AD_poukaz_do_Tuzexu.jpg|right|thumb|Bon worth 5 Kčs

Bons couldn't be exchanged back to these currencies and were only valid in ČSSR.

People, who did not have access to foreign currencies could get bons only in black markets from illegal resellers –scalpers (veksláci). Officially, one bon was worth 1 Kčs. In the 80s, 1 bon was worth 5 Kčs on the black market.
