Bowdon Church School

Bowdon Church School is a mixed Church of England primary school in the village of Bowdon near Altrincham, Greater Manchester, England. It is located on Grange Road and is under the authority of Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council.[1]

The school is linked to St Mary's Church, Bowdon, an Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester.[2]

The school was classed as Outstanding by Ofsted in 2006.[3]

History[edit]

Bowdon Church School has a long history, being originally founded by 1553 by Edward Janny, a merchant from Manchester, on a different site near to St Mary's Church.[4]

In 2016, the school was modernised and rebuilt on the same site, and was reopened in March 2016, by Libby Lane, the first female Church of England bishop.[5]
