Brands For Good is an event organized by CEO Asia Pte Ltd. in Singapore. Launched in the beginning of 2018, the inaugural year saw a total of 33 awards honoring 24 companies recognized at the gala dinner held at Marina Bay Sands.[1]

History[edit]

Brands For Good, established in 2018, is the signature event hosted by CEO Asia Pte Ltd, sponsored by Maybank Singapore and BBX. It aims to celebrate corporate social responsibility and recognize organizations that prioritise sustainability in their business. In particular, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) who are committed to making a positive impact in their communities through their work.[2]

The recognition program was organized in partnership with non-profit organizations B Lab, The Rice Company and IPOS Society. With the support of other organizations including the Asia Pacific CSR Council and the Singapore International Foundation.[2] In order to be eligible the companies had to be registered in Singapore and operated as for-profit.

Background[edit]

Brands For Good (BFG) celebrates SMEs that have championed sustainable and inclusive economic goals, social development and environmental protection.[1] BFG wants to build a community of socially conscious organisations and give them an opportunity to connect, share ideas in order to build a strong network. Additionally, it aims to highlight these organization to encourage other businesses to embrace these values and take steps towards achieving a sustainable future.

Awards[edit]

Brands For Good was launched in January of 2018 and the nomination process ended in May. The recipients were announced and celebrated at the Brands for Good Gala Dinner. The companies were assessed by a panel of eight independent judges, who are esteemed leaders across different industries.[2] The awards comprised of 3 major categories; Workplace, Community, Environment under Brands For Good and a special Patents For Good category. 24 companies were recognized for their outstanding business practices and contribution to society. Among them 19 companies received recognition as a Brand For Good.[3]

The 3 major categories were further divided to include Fair Employment Practices, Workplace Culture and Communications, Workplace Safety, People Development, Diversity and Inclusion, Social Giving and Engagement, Sustainable Resource and Environmental Impact Management.[2] There were 4 companies that were recognized as champions in their categories and various companies that were honorees in multiple categories.[3]

Gala Dinner[edit]

The inaugural event was held at Marina Bay Sands on 26th of July 2018. The 24 winners were announced and were presented with the trophy.[1]
