Brian Diggins
Brian Diggins was a former footballer who was a centre forward. He played for Gillingham and Gravesend[1] in the Southern League and Redhill[2] in the Athenian League but he made his biggest impact playing for Sheppey United[3] [4] in the Kent League. After a short period playing for Sheppey in 1945-46 he left the club to play for Gillingham, Redhill and Gravesend before returning to Sheppey for the 1948-49 season.
Over the next four and a half seasons he didn't miss a single game for The Ites playing in nearly 200 consecutive games. During his time with the club he scored 185 goals, helping them win the Kent Amateur Cup in 1951-52. His goal tally, by season, for Sheppey is as follows:-
