Brian Diggins was a former footballer who was a centre forward. He played for Gillingham and Gravesend in the Southern League and Redhill in the Athenian League but he made his biggest impact playing for Sheppey United  in the Kent League. After a short period playing for Sheppey in 1945-46 he left the club to play for Gillingham, Redhill and Gravesend before returning to Sheppey for the 1948-49 season.
Over the next four and a half seasons he didn't miss a single game for The Ites playing in nearly 200 consecutive games. During his time with the club he scored 185 goals, helping them win the Kent Amateur Cup in 1951-52. His goal tally, by season, for Sheppey is as follows:-
