Brün Health is a connected health devices manufacturing company. It is an Indian, multinational company, with its presence in New Delhi, Hyderabad and San Fransisco. The company was incorporated in 2014. The company designs innovative wearable health devices offering solutions to some critical pregnancy related issues of women.

History[edit]

Balaji Teegala and Dr. Prashant Jha[1], came together as part of a Department of Biotechnology program called Stanford India Biodesign in 2013[2]. The goal was to find an affordable solution to solve the problems of high still births in India[3].Their detailed studies of health systems helped them identify some of the key reasons for India having the highest still birth rates and infant and maternal mortality rates in the world. At the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and its model primary and community health centers they quantified and studied the problems faced by the nearly 27 million deliveries in India each year.

For its innovative solutions, Brun Health has been awarded by[4], BIRAC Biotechnology Ignition Grant, 2015 SOCAP Social Entrepreneurs Award and Robert Howard Next Step Award By Lunar Design in California.

The company also won, INDIAFRICA Business Contest by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and got its name in NUS-DEB Social Venture Challenge Top 12 in Asia.

Brun Health also won Global Impact Challenge, a competition announced by Kerala government to find the best technology solutions to some of trickiest problems that people and communities are facing in India.[5]

Brun Health has been honoured by ASME Innovation Showcase[6], India; for its labour detection tool, which has the potential to reduce neonatal mortality rates in India. The tool helps in monitoring vital signs and communicating foetal data with clinicians for timely interventions in distant, hard-to-access locations.

In 2018, Brun Health stood in top 10 teams in the Smart 50: 50 Solutions to Transform India[7] for its product 'Brun'.

Brun: Brun is a foetal monitoring device that aims to create an ecosystem that ensures better outcomes during child birth. Its patented technology ensures easy detection of vital signs improving usability while keeping costs manageable. Brün helps to track fetal and maternal wellness by enabling remote monitoring and logging of fetal health. It provides doctors with data that is easy to interpret, allowing them to make well informed decisions.
